Skin spots are most commonly localized on the face, neckline and the hands. They are associated with ageing and lesions caused by the sun.
Dermatology at Vithas Xanit provides specialized consultations for these pathologies.
Skin spots are produced by factors like UV rays exposure, hormonal imbalance (pregnancy skin spots) and ageing, among others.
Spots related with “ageing” are provoked by excessive sun exposure and usually appear around forty, sometimes even before that.
Light skinned individuals are more likely to get some, particularly on the face, neck or hands, because these are the areas that are most exposed to the sun during the day.
The Dermatology at Vithas Xanit provides treatment for these skin lesions:
Depending on the intensity and importance of the lesions, different treatments can be used on these brown spots like cosmetic, aesthetic medicine or dermatology techniques.
Most frequently provided aesthetic medicine and dermatology treatments are:
1- Intense pulsed light treatment
Pulsed light devices allow to target brown spots like a laser would. This technique is mainly used to treat quite extended lesions.
Skin spots due to ageing can be cared for very quickly. The intense pulsed light also enhances skin brightness and skin quality improves.
1 to 2 sessions will normally be performed with 1 month break between them.
2- Laser treatment
The laser fragments melanin cells pigments.
This is the most selective and effective technique since skin spots treatments are targeted and surrounding tissues remain unaffected.
As with the pulsed light, no sun exposure is allowed after this technique.
Skin spots will also darken and peel off, like they do after pulsed light treatments. A sole session is usually necessary.
3- Pigmentation peels
The application of this spot blocking peeling will provoke skin exfoliation during 2 to 3 days.
Patients will show a brighter skin after the treatment.
2 to 3 sessions will normally be performed with 1 month break between them.
At Vithas Xanit Dermatology Department, we provide many different techniques to treat skin spots.
Further regular visits to the dermatology consultation will help control these skin lesions. Specialized revision of darkening or anti-spot treatment resistant skin lesions and moles is most important to discard the presence of non aesthetic pathologies which might need a more specific kind of treatment.
