Rhinoplasty or nose surgery is a plastic surgical technique that can improve a person’s appearance either by a physical problem of the nose or because the person wants to modify their appearance. But it does not necessarily change the appearance of the nose completely, only a part. You can achieve a proportional and harmonized nose in its shape and size.
People who desire this technique, are people who want or need to change their image because they are complexed with what their nose is, either because it is large, deformed, or has had an accident. They also resort to this technique because it can correct birth defects such as a cracked nose, very large holes, eagle nose, short or problems arising from not being able to breathe well.
General anesthesia is usually applied in cases less local anesthesia and sedation.
What is nose surgery?
It lasts between 1-3 hours, depending on the degree or severity of the intervention. If it is a deep nose reconstruction it usually takes a few more hours.
The intervention is usually performed in a hospital or clinic, discharging the patient the next day.
During the procedure, the skin is separated from the bone and cartilage, working them until the desired state is achieved.
The incisions are made inside the nostrils normally. That way, you will not see any scar on the outside.
At the end of the procedure, a plaster structure is placed on the nose to protect it and control the inflammation. In this way it does not deform and take on the appearance of the plaster cast. It is also normal to place a stopper in the nostrils to avoid bleeding.
