Vithas Xanit specialist participates in study of the psychological impact of confinement on children and adolescents
Dr. Rocío Juárez y Ruíz de Mier, child psychologist at the Vithas Xanit International hospital in Benalmádena and associate professor at the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences of the University of Malaga, is carrying out together with her research team led by Dr. Rocío Lavigne Cerván from the University of Malaga, and together with Dr. Ignasi Navarro from the University of Alicante, a study to assess the psychological impact of confinement on children and adolescents.
This study, which emerged from clinical practice itself when observing sudden changes in the habits of children and adolescents from online consultations, aims to assess the psychological impact and whether psychological maladjustments are occurring in children due to confinement, in order to provide specific guidelines and treatments.
To carry out the study, an anonymous survey is being carried out for parents with children between 6 and 18 years of age, evaluating aspects such as anxiety, sleep, cognitive functions such as flexibility or organization, among others. The results will help to better understand how the period of confinement is affecting children and adolescents, so parents are encouraged to participate in the survey.
Since the study began on April 16, it has been disseminated through social networks and is having a great reception: many professionals from education, medicine and the social sphere have offered their support and collaboration, and have already participated in the survey about 1000 participants. People not only answer the survey, but also share it with their family and friends.
The survey only lasts about 10 minutes, anyone who wants to participate can do so through the following link: https://forms.gle/dZfpAWyZhmktB3af8
Once the period of dissemination of the survey ends, the results will be analyzed and announced, expected from June.
